In the light of the Judgment passed by The Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Criminal Appeal 135/2010 on 19th May 2022 and under the aegis of Bihar State Legal Services Authority, Patna, Shri Israr Ahmed, in-charge District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Nalanda and under the direction of Smt Pratibha, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Nalanda today, on June 29, 2022, in the Civil Court, Nalanda, a workshop about the legal rights of sex workers, legal validity of sexual acts, duties of police, etc. was organized, in which Shri Ashutosh Kumar, Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge POCSO, Nalanda Shri Dev Priya Kumar, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nalanda, Shri Vikas Kumar, SDC(legal)-cum-Nodal Officer, Nalanda , Shri Sitaram Singh, President, Advocates Association, Shri Kamlesh Kumar, Secretary, Advocate Union, Smt. Mamta Kumari, DSP Headquarters, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, District AIDS Control Authority, Nalanda, Shri Keshav Prasad, District Education Officer, Nalanda, Smt. Reena Kumari, District Program Officer, ICDS, Shri Uma Shankar Bhagat, District Program Manager, (Jeevika) , Shri Shailendra Kumar Choudhary, Assistant Director, District Child Protection Unit, Executive Officer, Rajgir, Shri Shrikant Singh, LDM, Shri Deepak Kumar, SHO, Rajgir, Shri Abhishek Bharti, General Secretary, Bharatiya Jan Utthan Parishad, Nalanda, Rita Kumari, DIS Nalanda was present.
In the workshop, the government's schemes for sex workers and their children were discussed. Apart from this, the DSP headquarters also expressed the confidence of cooperation by the police. Shri Vikas Kumar, SDC(legal)-cum-Nodal Officer, Nalanda ensured all possible help to get the benefits of the government's schemes. Shri Ashutosh Kumar, Special Judge POCSO informed about the order of the Supreme Court. Shri Deopriya Kumar, CJM spoke about the punishment and procedure regarding Prevention of Human trafficking. Shri Israr Ahmed, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Nalanda and Smt. Pratibha, Additional District and Sessions Judge cum Secretary-in-Charge, that sex workers also have the right to live a dignified life like a common citizen. The chairman of DLSA said that if there is any problem in getting the benefits of the government scheme, they can contact the District Legal Services Authority, District Administration, and Police Department directly without any hesitation. Secretary-in-Charge has given vote of thanks to all participants. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Roshan Kumar, Program Manager, Bhartiya Jan Utthan Parishad.
